Wow! It has been busy here at the ranch. We have had lots of life coming and going – people, rescues and special visitors, too. We have taken in several new rescues that we are working on getting healthy. We have had 2 adoptions in the past few days to some awesome people.
One thing you wouldn’t have wanted to miss was our special guests from Tigers for Tomorrow. Susan and Wilbur paid us a visit to do some trail riding and stay in the guest quarters for a little get away. They brought their bouncing baby boy with them. Basil is a 50 pound black bear rescue from Florida. Tigers for Tomorrow is an exotic animal rescue located in between Attalla and Collinsville, Alabama. They have an amazing array of exotics and farm animals. With 130 animals to see, there is something for everyone. Please pay them a visit. They completely operate off of grants, donations and visitors. Help them to continue the great work they do and get a special treat too.
The butterfly breeding grounds here are amazing! There are butterflies I have never seen in my life here in abundance.
They are so beautiful. This place is an amazing Creation of God we would love to share with you. Please come when you can!
We have lots of cool events coming up – Cowboy Drag Racing, Women’s Retreat, Open House and much, much more. Please check our Events page for updates. Blessings!

Check out our new article in Alabama Living. They wrote a very nice article about us here. We are thankful to the folks at Alabama Living for including us in their July, 2010 issue.
Within the next couple of weeks, we will have kayaks for rent. The creek is turning out to be a huge attraction for us in this heat. Everyone enjoys hanging out at our very own beach – horses, deer and wolves included. (Don’t worry moms. The wolves are on leashes around here and they are quite domesticated.) Come to see us soon!

The rodeo was awesome. We had a great crowd and the vendors offered some really nice items for purchase. The Hedrick Rodeo Company did a fantastic job. They were quite a crowd pleaser. Bob, the clown, is ALWAYS a huge attraction for the kids. The kids were dancing in the bleachers. There was a large group of them near the rodeo fencing dancing their little hearts out. The bullriders had a tough night. There were some tough bulls that put a quite a show for all. Hope to see you at our next rodeo!

The horse clinic this past weekend was absolutely awesome. Jason and Angela of Wilds Horsemanship are 2 very precious people. See their website for horse clinics at: www.wildshorsemanship.com. They adopted 3 of our rescues - a beautiful husky puppy (Tahoe) and 2 miniature donkeys (Hosea nd Polly). We also adopted out a puppy we have had for almost 8 months – our precious Mellie – to a wonderful young man that lives locally. It feels great when you can make a difference in the lives of rescue animals and make so many people happy by bringing so much joy to their lives with these precious creations that deserve a great life. Back to horses! Check out the photo gallery for pics of the weekend trail ride. The trails are beautiful and the water features are absolutely amazing. The guest rooms were very pleasing to the guests too. Please come to see us when you can!

The first trail ride of the spring season was a hit. The weather was great and the people were very awesome that were a part of the trail ride. Many of them really enjoyed visiting with our rescued animals as an added bonus to their weekend. They built bonfires at night and played music for all to enjoy. They have already booked the Bull’s Head Saloon guest quarters for a weekend in April.
We also had a very cute, sweet couple come for a return visit to stay in the Cowboy Roost. They promise to come back soon. They are animal lovers themselves who enjoy visiting with our rescues here. We are ecstatic about all the positive feedback we are getting about the guest quarters and the beautiful scenery here at the ranch. Come see it for yourself. It will not disappoint. Blessings!

February 22, 2010 MondayFINALLY, the weather broke and we had an amazing weekend for trail riding. I was able to ride my young horses up the mountain. There were several guests at the ranch for the weekend that wanted to take advantage of the warm weather and hit the trails.
On Saturday, we opted to skip the creek trail and head our horses straight up the mountain. We stopped half way up to let the horses catch their breath. The view was simply breathtaking! Although I’ve ridden horses many times on these trails, I never cease to be amazed by the beauty of this place.
On Sunday, after a little church….Cowboy Style, we saddled back up. This time we took the creek side trail. We came upon some folks in the creek searching for arrowheads and other ancient treasures. It was so soothing to listen to the creek flow as we sat in the saddle surveying the valley’s vast beauty. I knew I had missed the horseback riding on those trails; but I didn’t really realize how much so until I was able to get out there and do it again. Being on the back of a horse and taking in the beauty here on the ranch makes me aware how blessed and highly favored I am. What a privilege it is to be able to trail ride in such an amazing place. Jana Cornett, Ranch General Manager
